If all goes well today, I’ll have a meeting at Wanderlust Coffee Roasters that will result in some sketches and reflections which will, in turn, in a few days, make the following less puzzling and seemingly out of place for the July 4th weekend coming up.
From First Landings to Fourth Days
First Landings, Second Homes, Third Places…
The fall of Rome, the fall of Athens, Germany,
and France, and what’s made that Is be.
A pattern creeps in every time.
It’s called a curse, and cursory rhymes
just hint at what young warriors know:
their passions, word games, made it so.
…….(to be continued Saturday.)
The term third places has been around long enough, but for the story of Rhettie and Wally’s IndSteadavision it’s used in a specific way, as is First Landings (a way to return to the land regularly and part-time at very low cost), and Second Homes (a feeling of home away from home, like I was lucky enough to sort of have growing up), and Fourth Days—the explanation for which will have to wait.
Behind the scenes here, there’s been a turn in this story. I suppose it has to do with Rhettie’s grandma Dorie getting older, or Bug Stu getting older, or maybe me getting older, or everyone getting older, or something. Still, the sketch of Rhettie and Wally in the GLUE Room at Matches Co-working Space remains appropriate, as she leads his imagination.

Have a great 4th. Thanks for reading. : )
